At First Medina, we are dedicated to connecting people to Jesus, helping people grow in their faith and equipping all to Serve. It is times like this when putting our church mission in to action is crucial. There are members of our church family and people in our community that need the hope and love of Jesus right now. Some might just need a friendly conversation. Some might need food or medicine brought to their home. We want to do our best to connect helpers with those who need it most. If you are wondering how you can be a light to those in your community, keep reading for some ways you can help!

Cups Cafe is working to provide hot meals and food for those in need during the shut-down of schools and local businesses. Here are ways you can get involved and help spread the love of Christ with our neighbors: Volunteer to Serve, Bring a Hot Meal, Pickup a Cleaning Shift, Donate, Delivery and more.

FEEDING MEDINA COUNTY

Feeding Medina County’s mission is to educate, engage, and lead our community in creating an environment where no one goes hungry. We nourish our community with essential programs that put food on the table for children, families, and seniors who are at risk of hunger. This is a great organization to get involved with in serving those in need right here in Medina!

HOW ELSE CAN YOU BE THE CHURCH?

Simply text or call people you know are vulnerable to this virus. Call those you know who struggle with isolation. Ask if there is any way you can help them.
FaceTime your friends and family! Skip the text when it comes to connecting with your loved ones. While in-person is always better, let’s utilize the technology we have been blessed with to still connect “face-to-face” as we practice social distancing.
Reach out to local food banks and non-profits and ask if they need help serving those in need.
Give. God has blessed many of us with margin whether that is financially or with our time. Look for ways to be generous to those around you. Family, friends, your church and neighbors.
Keep an eye on social media for those who are reaching out for help. If you are on Facebook, you might want to consider joining: People Helping People in Medina.
Support Local Businesses. With so many in our community hurting due to business closure, we encourage you to support local. Here is a list of restaurants and organizations.
PRAY. PRAY. PRAY! Pray for God to show you when, where and how to act.

PRAYER

In Psalm 46, we are reminded that it is God who is our refuge and strength, and our ever-present help in trouble. Therefore, let us not fear, but with confidence use this opportunity to be the hands and feet of Jesus through our prayers and our care for others.

Essential Workers

There are many people who are working hard in their vocations to keep people safe.
Pray for frontline health care workers, first responders, truck drivers, farmers,
grocery store employees, sanitation employees, non-profit organization staff and many more!

Those Directly Affected By COVID-19

There are many people who will contract this virus or have someone close to them contract it. Pray for their healing and comfort.

Churches and Organizations

Pray for our church and all other churches and non-profit organizations that act as a beacon of hope and fill critical needs for people each week. Pray that as we continue reaching people for Jesus through online streaming, that hearts will be changed. Pray for all volunteers who are continuing to serve.

Our Community, State, Nation and World

Pray for all of those in our community who are looking for hope during this time of uncertainty. Pray for the leaders of our state and nation as they make decisions to help stop the spread. Pray for all of those around the world being affected and countries that do not have access to the healthcare systems and supplies needed to combat the virus.
